Fans might be surprised to learn that the singer who writes about sexual exploration in "I Kissed a Girl" grew up in a very conservative family. Both of her parents are pastors, and they refused to let her listen to any rock or popular music. "The only things I was allowed to listen to were the Sister Act 1 and 2 soundtracks," Perry told Entertainment Weekly. She and her two siblings were also not permitted to watch such cable channels as MTV and VH1.

Perry started taking singing lessons around the age of 9 and learned to play guitar when she was 13. Around this time, she began rebelling against her strict upbringing by piercing her own nose. She soon became interested in pursuing a career in music. With her mother, Perry made several trips to Nashville to record a gospel album, Katy Hudson, which was released in 2001. "It reached literally maybe 100 people, and then the label went bankrupt," Perry explained to Entertainment Weekly.

Katy Perry shows off her bikini bod as she has fun in the sun at Raging Waters Waterpark on Sunday (August 12) in San Dimas, Calif.
While she was there, the 27-year-old entertainer even attempted to boogie board!
The day before, Katy tried to keep a low profile while she was out and about with John Mayer at a house party.
The pair was even spotted leaving the Chateau Marmont together earlier this month!

Katy Perry took a break from stepping out with John Mayer and his dippy hat to visit San Dimas' Raging Waters, also known as California's largest waterpark. Perry, who showed up with a group of friends, indulged in all the delights that waterparks have to offer — including wardrobe malfunctions.

Bikinis are fickle, unwieldy things in the face rushing water and speed, so it's not surprising that Ms. Perry suffered a minor wardrobe malfunction after she tackled a boogie boarding attraction. She just happens to be super famous, so of course someone snapped a picture of her mildly embarrassing moment (we've modified it for the sake of modesty).

We'd like to note that the lifeguard is a noble soul for looking away — even if he probably sees way more flesh than he wants to each and every working day.

Perry handled the situation with charm, laughing it off in the company of her pals. See how her accidental flash stacks up against other embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions.
